IW4MAdmin Commands Reference for IW4x Servers

IW4MAdmin gives you a full set of in-game admin commands accessible through chat. Players type commands directly into the in-game chat box — no RCON console needed. This reference covers all standard commands organized by permission level, plus usage examples.

How Commands Work

Type commands in the in-game chat. They are intercepted by IW4MAdmin before being broadcast to other players, so most commands won't appear as a chat message. Commands start with ! (configurable). Example:

!kick PlayerName cheating

Commands can also be sent from the IW4MAdmin web panel's built-in console, or triggered via RCON using say:

rcon say !kick PlayerName cheating

Admin Rank Hierarchy

IW4MAdmin uses a stepped permission system. Higher ranks have access to all commands below their level, plus their own level's commands.

Rank Number Rank Name Who Gets This
0 User All players
1 Trusted Verified regulars
2 Moderator Junior admins
3 Administrator Full admins
4 SeniorAdmin Lead admins
5 Owner Server owner (you)

Promote a player: !setlevel <player> <rank_name>

Player Targeting Syntax

Most commands that target a player accept:

  • Partial name: !kick john — matches any player with "john" in their name
  • Client number: !kick @3 — use the @ prefix with the slot number from !list
  • Exact name: If multiple players match a partial name, IW4MAdmin will ask you to be more specific

If a player's name contains special characters or color codes, using the @ slot number is the most reliable approach.

Practical Usage Examples

// Kick a cheater
!kick BadPlayer cheating

// Temp-ban a toxic player for 24 hours
!tempban ToxicGuy 1d toxic behavior

// Ban a confirmed hacker permanently
!ban WallHacker confirmed aimbot

// Promote a trusted regular to Moderator
!setlevel TrustedPlayer Moderator

// Change the map to Rust
!map mp_rust

// Quick restart after a bad round
!fr

// Warn a player for team killing
!warn TeamKiller stop team killing

// Check a suspicious player's history
!history SuspiciousPlayer

// Announce something to all players
!say All players please read the rules: !rules

Web Panel vs. In-Game Commands

Both methods reach the same IW4MAdmin backend. The web panel at http://[server-ip]:1624 provides:

  • A visual player list with one-click kick/ban/warn buttons
  • Full ban management and search
  • Player history and alias lookup
  • Server console for sending commands
  • Stats graphs and leaderboards

In-game chat commands are faster for live moderation while you're playing. The web panel is better for reviewing history, managing bans, and configuring IW4MAdmin settings.
