KF2 Admin Management

KF2 uses a password-based admin system — anyone who knows the AdminPassword can log in as an admin from within the game.

Setting the Admin Password

In KFGame/Config/LinuxServer-KFGame.ini:

[Engine.AccessControl]
AdminPassword=YourSecurePasswordHere

Use a strong password. This same password is used for both WebAdmin and in-game admin login.

Logging In as Admin In-Game

  1. Join the server
  2. Open the console by pressing the backtick key (`) — you'll see a text input at the bottom of the screen
  3. Type:
    adminlogin YourSecurePasswordHere

  4. Press Enter — if the password is correct, you'll see an "Admin Login successful" message

You are now logged in as admin for this session. The login expires when you disconnect.

Essential Admin Commands

Once logged in, all commands are prefixed with admin in the console:

Command Effect
admin kick PlayerName Kick a player by name
admin kickban PlayerName Kick and ban a player
admin say Message Send a message to all players as ADMIN
admin servertravel KF-MapName Change the map immediately
admin servertravel KF-MapName?game=KFGameContent.KFGameInfo_Endless Change map and game mode
admin pause Pause the game (toggle)
admin addbots N Add N bots to the server
admin killbots Remove all bots
admin restartlevel Restart the current map
adminlogout Log out of admin session

Banning Players

By name:

admin kickban PlayerName

By SteamID (permanent):

Open WebAdmin → Administration → Banned Players and add the player's SteamID64 directly. This is the most reliable method since names can change.

Giving Admin to Trusted Players via WebAdmin

  1. Log in to WebAdmin at http://YOUR_IP:8080
  2. Go to Administration → Administrators
  3. Click Add Administrator
  4. Enter a username and password for the new admin account

This creates a separate WebAdmin login — the new admin can use WebAdmin but doesn't need to know your main AdminPassword. They won't automatically get in-game admin (they'd still need to adminlogin with their own password if you add it to the config).

Quick Reference: Setting Up In a Hurry

  1. Set AdminPassword= in LinuxServer-KFGame.ini
  2. Restart the server
  3. Join the server → open backtick console → type adminlogin YourPassword
  4. You're done — use admin <command> for the rest of the session
