Mindustry Admin Management

Mindustry doesn't use a password-based admin system. Instead, admin privileges are granted to specific player IDs via the server console.

Granting Admin Privileges

When a player is connected, find their ID with:

players

Output:

[INFO] 1. PlayerName [UUID: abc123def456...]

Grant admin:

admin add abc123def456

Or grant by name (if the name is unique):

admin add PlayerName

Admin players appear in red in chat. They can use in-game admin commands by typing them in chat with a / prefix.

In-Game Admin Commands

Admins type these in the game chat with a / prefix:

Command	Effect
/kick PlayerName	Kick a player
/ban PlayerName	Ban a player
/stop	Stop the server
/host MapName [mode]	Switch maps

Banning Players

By name (from console):

ban add PlayerName

By UUID:

ban add abc123def456

By IP:

ban add 203.0.113.45

Using UUID or IP is more reliable — names can be changed between sessions.

View active bans:

bans

Unban:

ban remove PlayerName

Name-Based Bans (Regex)

Prevent players from using names matching a pattern (useful for blocking impersonators or slurs):

name-ban add <regex pattern>

Example — block names containing "admin":

name-ban add (?i)admin

The (?i) makes it case-insensitive.

Remove a name ban:

name-ban remove (?i)admin

Clear all name bans:

name-ban clear

Whitelist

The whitelist restricts the server so only approved players can join.

Enable whitelist:

whitelist add PlayerUUID

Once any player is added to the whitelist, the server only accepts whitelisted UUIDs.

Remove from whitelist:

whitelist remove PlayerUUID

Clear entire whitelist:

whitelist clear
