Mindustry Server Configuration

Mindustry doesn't use a traditional .cfg file — instead, all settings are managed through the config console command. Changes save automatically to config/settings.bin and persist across restarts.

Viewing All Settings

From the server console:

config

This lists every configurable option with its current value.

Setting a Value

config <name> <value>

Example:

config name "DustBowl Mindustry"
config desc "Survival server — waves every 2 minutes. Discord: discord.gg/example"
config port 6567

Key Configuration Options

Server Identity

Setting Example Description
name "My Server" Server name shown in the browser
desc "Survival, all welcome" Short description (max 100 chars)
port 6567 Port to listen on
config name "DustBowl Mindustry"
config desc "Survival server. Friendly community."

Gameplay Behaviour

Setting Example Description
enableVotekick true Allow players to vote-kick others
showConnectMessages true Show join/leave messages in chat
logging true Write logs to file
config enableVotekick true
config showConnectMessages true
config logging true

Auto-Start Commands

Run commands automatically every time the server starts:

config startCommands "host Serpulo survival"

For multiple commands, separate with a semicolon:

config startCommands "host Serpulo survival; config name DustBowl Mindustry"

This is useful for always starting on a specific map without manual intervention.

Auto-Update

config autoUpdate false

When true, the server exits when a new Mindustry version is released (so your process manager can pull the update and restart). Set false to keep the server running until you update manually.

Applying Changes

Most config changes take effect immediately — no restart needed. Changes to port require a restart to bind the new port.

Config File Location

Settings are stored in config/settings.bin (binary format — do not edit directly). Always use the config command to change values.
