Mordhau RCON
RCON (Remote Console) lets you run admin commands on your Mordhau server without joining the game — useful for automated management scripts, Discord bots, or remote administration.
Configuring RCON
In Mordhau/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/Game.ini (while server is stopped):
[/Script/Mordhau.MordhauGameMode]
RconPassword=YourStrongRconPassword
RconPort=7778
Restart the server after saving. Make sure UDP port 7778 is open in your firewall.
Connecting to RCON
Mordhau uses a Source Engine-compatible RCON protocol over UDP. You can connect with any Source RCON client.
Using mcrcon:
# Install mcrcon
sudo apt-get install mcrcon
# Send a single command
mcrcon -H YOUR_SERVER_IP -P 7778 -p YourPassword "playerlist"
Using rcon-cli:
rcon-cli --host YOUR_SERVER_IP --port 7778 --password YourPassword changelevel FL_Feitoria
Interactive session:
mcrcon -H YOUR_SERVER_IP -P 7778 -p YourPassword
> playerlist
> ban PLAYFABID 0 "Cheating"
> changelevel TDM_Camp
> exit

Community RCON Tools
The Mordhau community has built dedicated management tools:
- Mordhau-RCON — Discord bot that bridges RCON to a Discord server. Supports automated ban lists, player logging, and chat bridging.
Security
- Use a long, unique password — RCON has no rate limiting
- Restrict UDP 7778 to your admin IP at the firewall level if possible:
sudo ufw allow from YOUR_ADMIN_IP to any port 7778 proto udp sudo ufw deny 7778/udp - Rotate the RCON password if you suspect it has been compromised
