Post Scriptum / Squad 44 Port Forwarding
Post Scriptum (Squad 44) dedicated servers require several UDP ports plus a TCP/UDP RCON port. This guide lists all required ports and covers firewall and router configuration.
Post Scriptum / Squad 44 Port Forwarding
Post Scriptum uses the same Unreal Engine 4 networking stack as Squad and requires several UDP ports to be open.
Required Ports
| Port | Protocol | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| 7787 | UDP | Game port — players connect here |
| 7788 | UDP | Additional game traffic |
| 27165 | UDP | Steam query / server browser |
| 27166 | UDP | Additional Steam traffic |
| 21114 | TCP + UDP | RCON |
| 30000+ | UDP | Unreal Engine voice (varies by instance) |
Only ports 7787, 7788, 27165, and 27166 are required for the server to appear in the browser and accept connections. RCON (21114) is optional. The 30000+ range is used for in-game VOIP.
Linux Firewall (ufw)
sudo ufw allow 7787/udp
sudo ufw allow 7788/udp
sudo ufw allow 27165/udp
sudo ufw allow 27166/udp
sudo ufw allow 21114/tcp
sudo ufw allow 21114/udp
sudo ufw allow 30000:30100/udp # VOIP range (adjust if needed)
sudo ufw reload
Linux Firewall (iptables)
iptables -I INPUT -p udp --dport 7787 -j ACCEPT
iptables -I INPUT -p udp --dport 7788 -j ACCEPT
iptables -I INPUT -p udp --dport 27165 -j ACCEPT
iptables -I INPUT -p udp --dport 27166 -j ACCEPT
iptables -I INPUT -p tcp --dport 21114 -j ACCEPT
iptables -I INPUT -p udp --dport 21114 -j ACCEPT
Router / NAT Port Forwarding
For home servers, add UDP forwarding rules in your router admin panel pointing to the server's static LAN IP:
| External | Internal | Protocol | Destination |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7787 | 7787 | UDP | Server LAN IP |
| 7788 | 7788 | UDP | Server LAN IP |
| 27165 | 27165 | UDP | Server LAN IP |
| 27166 | 27166 | UDP | Server LAN IP |
| 21114 | 21114 | TCP+UDP | Server LAN IP (RCON) |
Verifying Connectivity
After the server starts and firewall rules are in place:
- Wait 2–5 minutes for Steam to register the server.
- Search for the server name in Post Scriptum / Squad 44's in-game server browser.
- If it doesn't appear, verify port 27165 (query port) is open using a UDP port checker tool.
Players can also connect directly via the console command (if available in Squad 44) or by adding the server to their favorites list using <IP>:7787.
