Post Scriptum Rebranded to Squad 44

In late 2023, Post Scriptum was officially renamed to Squad 44. If you're finding this guide because you searched for "Post Scriptum server," you're in the right place.

What Is Squad 44?

Squad 44 is a WW2 tactical multiplayer shooter set during the 1944–1945 battles for Western Europe. It was developed by Offworld Industries (the same studio behind Squad) on Unreal Engine 4. The gameplay focuses on large-scale combined arms infantry combat across historically accurate maps — Normandy, Operation Market Garden, the Ardennes, and more.

The game is the same. Squad 44 is Post Scriptum with a renamed brand and continued development under Offworld Industries after the original developer (Periscope Games) stepped away.

What Changed with the Rename

Area Before (Post Scriptum) After (Squad 44)
Store page name Post Scriptum Squad 44
In-game UI Post Scriptum branding Squad 44 branding
Development team Periscope Games Offworld Industries
Community Discord Post Scriptum discord Squad 44 discord
Development activity Slowing Active (new content)

What Did NOT Change

Critically, for server operators, almost nothing changed:

Area Status
Steam AppID Still 746200 for dedicated server
Server binary name Still PostScriptumServer
Config directory Still PostScriptum/ServerConfig/
Config file names Unchanged (Server.cfg, Admins.cfg, MapRotation.cfg, Rcon.cfg)
Port numbers Unchanged (7787, 7788, 27165, 27166, 21114)
Admin system Unchanged (group-based Admins.cfg identical to Squad)

If your server was running under Post Scriptum and you update the game files, it continues to work without any config changes.

Finding Current Documentation and Community Support

Since Squad 44 shares its engine with Squad, the Squad server documentation is also a useful reference for concepts and config file semantics.

Summary

If you're setting up a new server, install AppID 746200 via SteamCMD and follow all guides that reference "Post Scriptum" — they remain accurate. The community and KB articles on this site use both names interchangeably.
