Satisfactory Server Claiming and Admin Management

Claim a new Satisfactory dedicated server, set the admin password, grant admin access to other players, and manage the server through the in-game Server Manager.

Satisfactory uses a unique admin system: a new server must be claimed by the first connecting player before anyone can manage it. After claiming, admins use the in-game Server Manager.

Claiming a New Server

A freshly installed Satisfactory server is in an unclaimed state. To claim it:

  1. Start the server
  2. Launch the Satisfactory game client
  3. Go to Main Menu → Server Manager
  4. Click Add Server
  5. Enter your server's IP address and query port (default 15777, or use 7777)
  6. The game detects the unclaimed server and presents a Claim Server button
  7. Click Claim, then set:
    • Server Name — what players see in the server list
    • Admin Password — used to gain admin access
  8. Click Confirm Claim

The claiming player's Steam account becomes the server owner.

Logging In as Admin

To access admin features on a server you've already claimed:

  1. Connect to the server normally
  2. Open Server Manager from the pause menu
  3. Click Log In with Admin Password
  4. Enter the admin password you set during claiming

Granting Admin to Other Players

In the in-game Server Manager (while logged in as admin):

  1. Navigate to the Players tab
  2. Find the player you want to promote
  3. Click their name and select Grant Admin

Admins can change server settings, load saves, kick players, and manage the session.

Server Manager Admin Functions

Once logged in as admin, the Server Manager provides:

Function Description
Load/Save Game Switch between save files or load a previous save
Create New Game Start a fresh save on this server
Server Settings Change name, passwords, autosave interval
Players View connected players, grant/revoke admin
Kick Player Remove a player from the current session
Pause/Resume Pause factory simulation remotely
Shutdown Gracefully shut down the server

Resetting the Admin Password

If the admin password is lost, there is no direct config file to edit it in. Options:

  1. Wipe and re-claim: Delete the server's GameUserSettings.ini and the save data, restart, and reclaim the server with a new password. This also deletes all player sessions.

  2. Edit saves: Advanced users can use save file editors (such as Satisfactory Calculator Save Editor) to access server credentials, but this is not officially supported.

Changing the Join Password

Players can be required to enter a password to join:

  1. Open Server Manager → Server Settings
  2. Set Client Password (the join password for all players)
  3. Leave blank for a public server

The admin password and join password are separate — admins need only the admin password.
