How to Set Up a Satisfactory Dedicated Server
Install a Satisfactory dedicated server on Linux using SteamCMD (AppID 1690800). Covers anonymous login, the FactoryServer.sh launcher, correct launch argument order, ports, and the unique server claiming process.
Satisfactory Dedicated Server Setup
Satisfactory's dedicated server runs on Linux and is downloaded via SteamCMD with anonymous login — no Steam account required.
Step 1 — Install SteamCMD
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install lib32gcc-s1 -y
mkdir ~/steamcmd && cd ~/steamcmd
wget https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/client/installer/steamcmd_linux.tar.gz
tar -xvzf steamcmd_linux.tar.gz
Step 2 — Download the Server Files
Satisfactory's dedicated server AppID is 1690800. Anonymous login is supported.
~/steamcmd/steamcmd.sh \
+force_install_dir /home/steam/satisfactory \
+login anonymous \
+app_update 1690800 validate \
+quit
Step 3 — Launch the Server
The launcher script is FactoryServer.sh:
cd /home/steam/satisfactory
chmod +x FactoryServer.sh
./FactoryServer.sh -Port=7777 -BeaconPort=15000 -ServerQueryPort=15777 -log -unattended
Critical: All
-Port,-BeaconPort, and-ServerQueryPortarguments must come before-log -unattended. Arguments placed after-log -unattendedare silently ignored by the Unreal Engine launcher.
Step 4 — Claim the Server (First Time Setup)
Satisfactory uses a unique server claiming system instead of a traditional admin password set in a config file:
- Start the server (it will be in an unclaimed state)
- Launch the Satisfactory game client and go to Server Manager
- Click Add Server and enter your server's IP and port
- The game will prompt you to Claim the server
- Set the server name and admin password during the claim process
This is done once. After claiming, your Steam account is the server owner.
Port Requirements
| Port | Protocol | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| 7777 | UDP + TCP | Primary game traffic |
| 15000 | UDP | Beacon (server discovery) |
| 15777 | UDP | Server query |
sudo ufw allow 7777/udp
sudo ufw allow 7777/tcp
sudo ufw allow 15000/udp
sudo ufw allow 15777/udp
Updating the Server
~/steamcmd/steamcmd.sh \
+force_install_dir /home/steam/satisfactory \
+login anonymous \
+app_update 1690800 \
+quit
Run after each Satisfactory game update. Client and server must be on the same version.
Experimental Branch
To run the experimental (beta) branch:
~/steamcmd/steamcmd.sh \
+force_install_dir /home/steam/satisfactory \
+login anonymous \
+app_update 1690800 -beta experimental \
+quit
Experimental builds may be unstable. Use a separate install directory for experimental if you want to keep a stable copy.
