Satisfactory Server Configuration

Satisfactory's server configuration lives in two INI files under:

FactoryGame/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/
  GameUserSettings.ini ← Server name, autosave, gameplay settings
  Engine.ini ← Tick rate and network settings (critical)

These files are generated after the server runs for the first time. Stop the server before editing.

Engine.ini — Critical Tick Rate Setting

This is the most important configuration change for server stability. The tick rate must be set to 30 — higher values cause instability and crashes.

[/Script/FactoryGame.FGServerSubsystem]
mAutosaveInterval=300

[/Script/Engine.GameNetworkManager]
TotalNetBandwidth=104857600
MaxDynamicBandwidth=104857600
MinDynamicBandwidth=10485760

[/Game/FactoryGame/Map/GameLevel01/Persistent_Level.Persistent_Level_C]
TickInterval=0.03333

Warning: TickInterval=0.03333 corresponds to 30 ticks per second. Setting this lower (higher tick rate) is not recommended and will cause server instability.

GameUserSettings.ini — Common Settings

[/Script/FactoryGame.FGGameUserSettings]
mAutosaveInterval=300              ; Autosave every 300 seconds (5 minutes)

Most core server settings are managed through the in-game Server Manager after claiming the server. The INI files handle lower-level engine configuration.

In-Game Server Manager Settings

After claiming the server, connect with a game client and open Server Manager to configure:

Setting Description
Server Name Display name in the server list
Admin Password Password to gain admin in the client
Join Password Optional password for all players to join
Autosave Number Number of autosave files to keep rotating
Autosave Interval How often the world autosaves
Pause When Nobody Connected Pause factory simulation when empty

Save File Location

Server saves are stored at:

FactoryGame/Saved/SaveGames/server/

Back up this directory regularly. The server saves .sav files here on each autosave.

Starting with an Existing Save

To load an existing save file (migrating from a local game or another server):

  1. Stop the server
  2. Copy the .sav file to FactoryGame/Saved/SaveGames/server/
  3. In the in-game Server Manager, select the save file to load
  4. Click Load Game

Config Changes

INI changes take effect on the next server start. Changes made via the in-game Server Manager take effect immediately without a restart.
