SCUM Server RCON Setup
RCON (Remote CONsole) lets you send admin commands to your SCUM server from any machine without needing direct access to the server console.
Enabling RCON
Edit SCUM\Saved\Config\WindowsServer\ServerSettings.ini while the server is stopped:
RCONEnabled=1
RCONPort=9999
RCONPassword=YourStrongPasswordHere
- Use a unique password — never reuse passwords from other services.
- The RCON port must be open through your firewall (TCP).
Restart the server for changes to take effect.
Firewall Rules
Windows Firewall:
netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="SCUM RCON" dir=in action=allow protocol=TCP localport=9999
Linux ufw:
sudo ufw allow 9999/tcp
sudo ufw reload
Connecting with mcrcon
mcrcon is a lightweight cross-platform RCON client:
# Linux/macOS (compile from source)

cd mcrcon && make
./mcrcon -H <server-ip> -P 9999 -p YourStrongPasswordHere
On Windows, download the precompiled mcrcon.exe:
mcrcon.exe -H <server-ip> -P 9999 -p YourStrongPasswordHere
Once connected you'll see a > prompt. Type any admin command and press Enter.

Security Recommendations
- Bind RCON to
localhostif you manage it from the same machine (no external firewall exposure needed). - Do not share the RCON password with anyone who shouldn't have full server control.
- Change the RCON password regularly, especially after removing a staff member.
