Squad Server RCON Setup

Configure RCON on your Squad server using Rcon.cfg. Squad uses the Source RCON protocol on TCP/UDP 21114. Run admin commands remotely without joining the game.

Squad Server RCON

RCON lets you run admin commands remotely without joining the game. Squad uses the Source RCON protocol on port 21114.

Configuring RCON

Create or edit SquadGame/ServerConfig/Rcon.cfg (while server is stopped):

Password=YourStrongRconPassword
Port=21114

Also set RconPassword= in Server.cfg to match.

Make sure TCP and UDP port 21114 are open in your firewall:

sudo ufw allow 21114/tcp
sudo ufw allow 21114/udp

Connecting with a Source RCON Client

Using rcon-cli:

rcon-cli --host YOUR_SERVER_IP --port 21114 --password YourPassword ListPlayers

Using mcrcon:

mcrcon -H YOUR_SERVER_IP -P 21114 -p YourPassword "ListPlayers"

Interactive session:

mcrcon -H YOUR_SERVER_IP -P 21114 -p YourPassword
> ListPlayers
> AdminKick "PlayerName" Reason
> AdminChangeLayer AlBasrah_AAS_v1
> exit

Common RCON Commands

Security

Use a long, unique password

Restrict port 21114 to your admin IP at the firewall level if possible:

sudo ufw allow from YOUR_ADMIN_IP to any port 21114
sudo ufw deny 21114
