Moderation on TeamSpeak Voice Servers
Effective server moderation maintains a friendly community environment. TeamSpeak administrators can issue channel kicks, server kicks, temporary bans, and permanent IP/Unique ID bans on DustBowl Warden.
Kicking Players
- Kick from Channel: Moves the target player out of their current channel into the default root lobby. Right-click client -> Kick from Channel.
- Kick from Server: Forcefully terminates the player's connection session. The player may reconnect immediately unless banned or passworded. Right-click client -> Kick from Server -> enter kick reason.
Banning Players
TeamSpeak bans can target multiple attributes simultaneously:
- Unique ID (UID): Bans the player's client cryptographic identity.
- IP Address: Bans the player's network IP address or subnet range (e.g.
198.51.100.*). - Nickname: Prevents specific vulgar or impersonating names from connecting.
Executing a Ban in the Client
- Right-click the disruptive user in the channel tree.
- Click Ban Client.
- Specify the Duration (set to
0for a permanent ban, or specify minutes, hours, or days). - Enter a clear Ban Reason that will display when the client attempts to reconnect.
- Click OK. The client is disconnected immediately.
Managing and Revoking Bans
To review, edit, or remove bans:
- In the TeamSpeak 3 menu bar, navigate to Tools -> Ban List (or press
Ctrl + Shift + B). - Search by IP, nickname, or Unique ID.
- To unban a user, select the ban entry and click Remove.
- To modify an expiration date or edit reason notes, double-click the record.
Moderation via ServerQuery
Server administrators can automate ban management through ServerQuery on port 10011:
# Ban a currently connected client for 1 hour (3600 seconds)
banclient clid=14 time=3600 banreason=Disruptive\sBehavior
# View all active bans
banlist
# Delete ban ID 5
bandel banid=5
Build ready-to-paste moderation commands with our TeamSpeak ServerQuery Command Builder and evaluate kick/ban powers with the TeamSpeak Permission Calculator.
