DustBowl Warden Control Panel Overview
DustBowl Warden is the unified game server control platform powering all DustBowl.Games services. Built specifically for high-performance multiplayer hosting, Warden provides container isolation, sub-second telemetry, direct stream I/O, and native game tooling.
Here is a full tour of the key features and tabs available in your instance workspace.
1. Instance Dashboard
The main dashboard provides an instant overview of your server's operational health:
- Power Controls: Quickly
Start,Stop,Restart, or trigger an emergencyKillif an instance becomes unresponsive. - Live Resource Gauges: Real-time metrics for CPU thread utilization, RAM usage against your plan's memory ceiling, and NVMe disk space.
- Network Information: Displays your primary connection address, game port, query port, and RCON details.
- Instance State: Clear indicators showing whether your server is
Running,Starting,Stopping,Offline, orUpdating.
2. Interactive Real-Time Console
The Console tab gives you bidirectional terminal access to your game server daemon:
- Send Admin Commands: Execute server commands without logging into the game (e.g., kick, ban, whitelist, give, or world save commands).
- Live Stream Logs: Monitor server events, player connection handshakes, and chat messages in real time.
- Search & Filter: Search back through recent console history to locate specific error strings or player actions.
- Diagnostics: Review stack traces and crash logs immediately if an unexpected crash occurs during startup.
3. File Manager
Warden features a web-based file management interface designed for fast configuration:
- In-Browser Editor: Open and edit configuration files (such as
server.properties,server.cfg,.ini,.json,.yml, and.toml) with full syntax highlighting. - Drag-and-Drop Uploads: Upload config files, custom maps, datapacks, and plugin jars straight from your desktop.
- Archive Management: Compress files into
.zipor.tar.gzarchives or extract uploaded packages with a single click. - File Permissions & Deletion: Safely create folders, duplicate templates, rename files, and batch delete obsolete log files.
4. Secure SFTP Connectivity
When transferring large assets — such as multi-gigabyte world archives, comprehensive modpacks, or texture packages — web browsers can timeout. Warden provides dedicated SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol) for every instance:
- In your instance settings, find your SFTP Details (Host, Port, and Username).
- Connect using any modern SFTP client such as FileZilla, WinSCP, or Cyberduck.
- Use your account password or generated SFTP token to log in.
- For detailed step-by-step connection instructions, read our SFTP Connection Guide.
5. Automated Schedules
Avoid manual maintenance chores by setting up automated recurring tasks in the Schedules tab:
- Daily Restarts: Schedule off-peak reboots (e.g., 4:00 AM) to purge memory fragmentation and keep tick rates smooth.
- Automated In-Game Warnings: Send broadcast messages to active players prior to a planned restart (e.g., 10-minute and 1-minute notices).
- Scheduled Backups: Automate daily or weekly world saves before scheduled server maintenance.
6. Snapshots & Disaster Recovery
Never risk losing player progress when updating game versions or testing experimental mods:
- On-Demand Snapshots: Click Create Backup anytime you are about to install new plugins, mods, or configuration overhauls.
- Automated Rotation: Older scheduled snapshots are automatically rotated based on your plan's backup retention policy.
- One-Click Restore: If a configuration error breaks your world or corrupts a database, restore your instance back to any previous snapshot with one click.
- Downloadable Archives: Download snapshot archives to your local computer for permanent offline archival.
7. Databases & Integrations
For games and plugins requiring relational storage (such as LuckPerms, CoreProtect, or custom web leaderboards):
- Provision dedicated MariaDB or PostgreSQL databases directly from the Databases tab.
- Instant connection strings and isolated credentials are generated automatically.
- No need to manage external database servers or expose public database ports.
