Unturned Server Port Forwarding
Unturned dedicated servers use only UDP — no TCP ports need to be opened for the game itself.
Required Ports
| Port | Protocol | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| 27015 | UDP | Game port — players connect here |
| 27016 | UDP | Steam query port — always Port+1 automatically |
The query port is always the base port plus 1. If you change Port in Commands.dat to 27020, the query port becomes 27021.
Multiple servers on the same machine: Use non-overlapping port pairs: 27015/27016, 27017/27018, 27019/27020, etc.
Linux Firewall (ufw)
sudo ufw allow 27015/udp
sudo ufw allow 27016/udp
sudo ufw reload
Linux Firewall (iptables)
iptables -I INPUT -p udp --dport 27015 -j ACCEPT
iptables -I INPUT -p udp --dport 27016 -j ACCEPT
Windows Firewall
netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="Unturned Game" dir=in action=allow protocol=UDP localport=27015
netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="Unturned Query" dir=in action=allow protocol=UDP localport=27016
Router / NAT Port Forwarding
In your router admin panel, add UDP forwarding rules pointing to your server's static LAN IP:
| External | Internal | Protocol |
|---|---|---|
| 27015 | 27015 | UDP |
| 27016 | 27016 | UDP |
Assign a static LAN IP to the server machine so these rules remain valid after router reboots.
Appearing in the Server Browser
Opening ports alone is not enough for the server to appear in the public Unturned browser. You also need a Game Server Login Token (GSLT):
- Visit https://steamcommunity.com/dev/managegameservers
- Create a token for App ID
304930. - Add
Login_Token <your-token>toServers/<ServerName>/Server/Commands.dat.
Without a GSLT, your server is only reachable via direct IP connection.
