V Rising Server Configuration

V Rising offers deep server customization. This guide covers the key settings to shape your vampire world.

Configuration Files

V Rising uses two main config files, found in your server's Settings/ directory:

  • ServerHostSettings.json — Network and server identity settings
  • ServerGameSettings.json — Gameplay rules and balance

Server Identity (ServerHostSettings.json)

Edit these in the AMP configuration panel or directly via the File Manager:

{
  "Name": "DustBowl V Rising",
  "Description": "A vampire adventure awaits",
  "Port": 9876,
  "QueryPort": 9877,
  "MaxConnectedUsers": 40,
  "MaxConnectedAdmins": 4,
  "Password": "",
  "SaveName": "world1",
  "AutoSaveCount": 20,
  "AutoSaveInterval": 300
}

Game Mode (ServerGameSettings.json)

The most important setting — determines PvP vs PvE:

GameModeType Description
PvP Full player vs player with castle raiding
PvE No player damage, cooperative play

Key Gameplay Settings

{
  "GameModeType": "PvP",
  "ClanSize": 4,
  "CastleLimit": 2,
  "PlayerDamageMode": "Always",
  "CastleDecayRateModifier": 1.0,
  "BloodBoundEquipment": true,
  "TeleportBoundItems": true,
  "FreeCastleClaim": false
}

Difficulty and Progression

Adjust how challenging the game feels:

Setting Description Recommended
VampireStatModifiers.MaxHealth Player health multiplier 1.0
UnitStatModifiers_Global.Level Enemy level scaling 1.0
CraftRate Crafting speed multiplier 1.0 - 2.0
RecipeCostModifier Resource cost for recipes 0.5 - 1.0
DropTableModifier_General Loot drop multiplier 1.0 - 2.0
BloodDrainModifier Blood drain speed 1.0

PvP-Specific Settings

For PvP servers, configure raiding windows and castle protection:

{
  "CastleHeartDamageMode": "CanBeDestroyedByPlayers",
  "SiegeWeaponHealth": "Normal",
  "VSPlayerWeekdayTime": { "StartHour": 18, "EndHour": 23 },
  "VSPlayerWeekendTime": { "StartHour": 14, "EndHour": 23 },
  "VSCastleWeekdayTime": { "StartHour": 19, "EndHour": 22 },
  "VSCastleWeekendTime": { "StartHour": 15, "EndHour": 22 }
}

Day/Night Cycle

Control the length of day and night:

{
  "DayDurationInSeconds": 1080,
  "StartingDayTime": 9,
  "BloodMoonFrequency": 10
}

Tip: Longer nights favor vampires and make the game feel more atmospheric.

Admin Commands

Add admins by Steam64 ID in Settings/adminlist.txt (one per line). In-game admin commands use the console:

  • adminauth — Authenticate as admin
  • teleport <name> — Teleport to a player
  • give <item> <amount> — Spawn items

Tips

  • Start with default settings and tweak based on player feedback
  • Use a shorter AutoSaveInterval (e.g., 120 seconds) to minimize data loss on crashes
  • For casual servers, increase DropTableModifier and decrease RecipeCostModifier
  • Set ClanSize to match your community — larger clans dominate PvP servers
