DustBowl Warden Web File Manager

The built-in File Manager in DustBowl Warden provides complete, secure control over your server filesystem directly in your web browser. You can modify server properties, upload mods, create archives, and inspect logs without needing third-party software.

  1. Navigate to your server in the Warden dashboard and click the File Manager tab.
  2. Use the interactive directory tree to browse folders.
  3. Path breadcrumbs at the top of the interface allow you to jump back to parent directories with a single click.

In-Browser Code & Config Editor

Warden includes a rich in-browser code editor with automatic syntax highlighting for common game configuration formats:

  • .properties, .cfg, and .ini files (Minecraft, Source engine, Unreal Engine)
  • .yml and .yaml files (Paper, Spigot, BungeeCord, txAdmin)
  • .json and .toml files (Fabric, Forge, Rust Oxide)

Key Features:

  • Click any editable file to launch the editor.
  • Use Ctrl+F (Cmd+F on macOS) to search and replace parameters quickly.
  • Click Save Content to write changes instantly to disk.
  • Safe-write buffering ensures that network interruptions will not truncate your configuration file.

Drag-and-Drop File Uploads

You can upload files directly from your desktop into the currently active directory:

  1. Open the destination folder in the File Manager (e.g., /plugins/ or /mods/).
  2. Drag one or more files from your operating system file manager and drop them onto the Warden browser window.
  3. Monitor upload progress via the status banner at the bottom of the page.

Creating and Extracting Archives

Managing large directory structures is fast and efficient with built-in compression tools:

  • Extracting Archives: Upload a .zip, .tar.gz, or .tar package (such as a modpack or custom map). Click the three dots menu next to the file and select Unarchive. The files are extracted into the current folder in seconds.
  • Creating Backups Before Edits: Select the checkboxes next to files or folders you plan to modify, click Archive, and name your backup (e.g., config-backup-pre-update.zip).

Housekeeping & Storage Quotas

To keep your instance responsive and within disk space quotas:

  • Regularly purge old log files from /logs/ or /crash-reports/.
  • Delete stale world backups that have already been archived to off-site storage.
  • Delete temporary .tmp or .old files created during plugin updates.
