7DTD EAC Mod Compatibility Checker
The most common question for new modded server admins: does my mod need Easy Anti-Cheat disabled? Search the table below to find out, then use the setup checklist to get both your server and players configured correctly.
No ban risk.
Disabling EAC on your private or rented server is a fully supported admin choice by the developers.
EAC is simply not enforced when EACEnabled=false is set server-side.
The Matching Rule
Mods with DLL / Harmony
EAC must be OFF
Server and all players
XML-only modlets
EAC can stay ON
No client change needed
Mismatch (server ≠ client)
Players get kicked
Settings must match
Mod Reference

| Loot table tweaks (XML) | XML-only | EAC ON OK | Modifying loot containers or spawn chances via XML only. |
| Recipe modification modlets | XML-only | EAC ON OK | Adding or changing crafting recipes with XML. No DLL needed. |
| UI / HUD modlets (XML) | XML-only | EAC ON OK | Custom HUD layouts, UI windows defined in XML only. |
| Map / biome modlets (no DLL) | XML-only | EAC ON OK | Custom biome definitions or map tweaks via XML. |
| Performance optimization modlets (XML) | XML-only | EAC ON OK | Config-based tweaks like entity spawn caps or LOD changes. |
| Localization / text modlets | XML-only | EAC ON OK | Translation packs and text overrides - pure XML. |
| Item / block definition modlets | XML-only | EAC ON OK | Adding or adjusting items, blocks, and entities via XML. |
Any mod containing a .dll file in its Mods folder requires EAC to be disabled - this includes all DMT-compiled mods.
serverconfig.xml Config
Add or update this line inside <ServerSettings>:
<property name="EACEnabled" value="false" />
Remember: every player joining must also disable EAC in their game client. A client-server mismatch causes an immediate kick on connection.
Setup Checklists
Server Admin Steps
- 1
Confirm your mod contains a
.dllfile or was built with DMT - if so, EAC must be disabled. - 2
Open
serverconfig.xmland setEACEnabledtofalse. - 3
Place all mod folders inside the server's
Mods/directory. - 4 Restart the server and confirm it starts without errors in the console log.
- 5 Tell your players which EAC setting to use before they try to connect - a mismatch causes an instant kick.
Player Steps
- 1 In Steam, right-click 7 Days to Die and select Properties.
- 2 Go to the General tab and open Launch Options.
- 3
Add
-noeacto disable EAC for that session, or use the launcher option your server admin recommends. - 4 Alternatively, launch the game and select Play without EAC from the launcher menu if present.
- 5
Download and install the same mod version as the server into your local
Mods/folder (if the mod requires a client install). - 6 Connect to the server - if you are kicked immediately, check that your EAC setting matches the server's.
Common Questions
Will I get VAC banned for disabling EAC?
No. EAC and VAC are separate systems. Disabling EAC server-side does not trigger VAC bans. Your server simply runs without the anti-cheat layer, which is normal for modded play.
Do players need to install the mod client-side?
It depends on the mod. DLL overhaul mods like Darkness Falls require the player to install the mod locally as well. XML-only modlets typically require no client install.
My server has EAC off but players are still getting kicked. Why?
The most common causes are: (1) the player's game still has EAC enabled in their launcher, (2) a version mismatch between the server's mod and the player's local mod install, or (3) the server didn't fully restart after changing the config.
Can I mix EAC-required and EAC-free mods on the same server?
No. EACEnabled is a single binary setting for the entire server. If any installed mod requires a DLL, EAC must be off for all mods on that server.
What does DMT mean?
DMT stands for Mod Development Tools - a community tool that lets modders patch the game's C# code and compile custom DLLs. Any mod produced with DMT will have a DLL and therefore requires EAC disabled.
