Sets up and expands iron, copper, and steel smelting columns. Manages furnace ratios and belt output.

Mining Lead

Locates and develops ore patches. Coordinates which patches to mine and when to expand.

Train / Logistics Lead

Designs the rail network, builds stations, manages train schedules and circuit conditions.

⚠️ Establish train direction rule before anyone builds rails.

Military / Defense

Builds turret perimeter, handles biter clearing, manages artillery, and monitors pollution cloud.

⚠️ Defense needed before evolution reaches dangerous levels.

Power Grid

Manages power infrastructure — coal steam early game, solar mid-game, nuclear late game.

⚠️ Power shortages block all other progress.

Mall / Assemblers

Builds and maintains the 'mall' — the area producing all intermediate components and construction materials.

Science Research

Manages the lab setup, research queue, and signals the team on upcoming tech unlocks.

Base Expansion

Scouts new territory, places roboports and radar coverage, clears land for future factories.

Oil / Chemical Chain

Sets up oil refinery, cracking ratios, and downstream plastic/sulfur/lubricant production.

Critical Path Notes

1 Get Smelting + Mining online first — everything downstream depends on plate throughput.
2 Power Grid must keep up with expansion — brownouts stall all production.
3 Military / Defense needs to be active before pollution draws heavy biter attention (typically by 2–3 hours in).
4 Establish train direction and rail rules before anyone builds their first rail segment.
5 Oil / Chemical Chain unlocks Blue science — set it up before the team idles on tech.
6 Mall / Assemblers should produce construction bots early — they 10x build speed.
