Icarus Prospect Reset Checklist
Follow this step-by-step interactive checklist to safely reset a prospect or perform a full server wipe. Avoid the most common admin mistakes that cause data loss or a stuck server.
Never rename a prospect .json file
Renaming a prospect's .json file causes unrecoverable corruption. Always delete and recreate — never rename.
Check ShutdownIfEmptyFor before starting the reset process
If ShutdownIfEmptyFor=0, the server will shut down the moment it empties during your reset. Set it to 3600 (or higher) first to prevent an automatic shutdown mid-process.
Remove CreateProspect= after the first launch
The CreateProspect= line in ServerSettings.ini must be removed immediately after the first successful server start. If left in, your prospect will be overwritten every time the server restarts.

Single Prospect Reset Steps
1.
Notify players: run /AdminSay Prospect reset in 10 minutes. Please finish current objectives.
2.
Wait for the server to empty, or run /ReturnToLobby to force all players back to the lobby.
3.
Back up the prospect file: copy your .json file from Icarus\Saved\PlayerData\DedicatedServer\Prospects\ to a safe location.
Default Windows path: C:\Icarus\Saved\PlayerData\DedicatedServer\Prospects\
4. Stop the dedicated server.
5.
Delete the prospect .json file from the Prospects folder.
⚠ Do NOT rename the file — this causes corruption. Delete only.
6.
Open ServerSettings.ini and remove or update the LastProspectName= line.
7.
Add a new CreateProspect= line with your desired prospect settings (ProspectName, difficulty, map, etc.).
8. Start the server — the new prospect will be automatically created on startup.
9.
Immediately after the first successful load: remove the CreateProspect= line from ServerSettings.ini.
⚠ Critical: if CreateProspect= is left in, the prospect will be overwritten on every restart.
10. Announce the reset is complete to your players.
