Space Station 13 Server Config Helper

Configure your SS13 BYOND dedicated server below. The tool outputs the relevant config/config.txt entries and the DreamDaemon launch command to start your server.

Default SS13 port is 1337. Ensure this is open in your firewall (UDP).

The .dmb file in your SS13 directory, e.g. tgstation.dmb → enter tgstation. Common forks: tgstation, baystation, skyrat, goon, paradise.

Forks may use different mode names. Check your fork's code/game/gamemodes/ for the exact key.

Some forks use this to scale antagonist counts. 30–50 is typical for a medium-population server.

Your BYOND username. Added to the admin list with host-level access.

Used for the in-game communications console (e.g. nuclear auth). Leave blank for default.

DreamDaemon Launch Command

# Run from your SS13 server directory:
DreamDaemon tgstation.dmb 1337 -trusted -invisible -log server.log

# Explanation:
# tgstation.dmb — your compiled SS13 world file
# 1337 — the port to listen on
# -trusted — marks the world as trusted (required for most features)
# -invisible — headless mode (no GUI window, ideal for Linux servers)
# -log server.log — write output to server.log

# Windows (add full BYOND path if not in PATH):
# "C:\Program Files\BYOND\bin\DreamDaemon.exe" tgstation.dmb 1337 -trusted -invisible -log server.log

Run from your SS13 server directory. On Linux use DreamDaemon; on Windows it's typically in the BYOND installation folder.

Quick-Start Notes

  • BYOND must be installed on the server — byond.com/download
  • Download your SS13 fork (tgstation, baystation, etc.) and compile the .dmb before starting
  • Open port 1337 (UDP) in your firewall
  • Add admins in config/admins.txt: one BYONDKEY = Rank per line
  • Use -invisible DreamDaemon flag to run headless on Linux
  • Consider a systemd or tmux session to keep the server running
