Prerequisites

CS2 does not have a native admin system. Admin functionality is provided by the Admin Commands plugin for CounterStrikeSharp. You need:

  1. MetaMod and CounterStrikeSharp installed — see CS2 Plugins guide
  2. The Admin Commands plugin uploaded to addons/counterstrikesharp/plugins/

Step 1: Find Your SteamID64

You need your SteamID64 — a 17-digit number like 76561198012345678.

Method 1 — Steam profile URL:

  1. Open your Steam profile in a browser
  2. If the URL contains a number (e.g. steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198012345678), that's your SteamID64
  3. If it's a vanity URL (e.g. steamcommunity.com/id/YourName), use steamidfinder.com or our SteamID Converter tool to convert it

Method 2 — In-game console:

  1. Join any server
  2. Open console (`)
  3. Type status — your SteamID64 appears in the player list as STEAM_0:X:XXXXXXXX — convert it using the tool above

Step 2: Add Yourself as Admin

  1. In your AMP or WISP panel, open the File Manager
  2. Navigate to: addons/counterstrikesharp/configs/
  3. Open admins.json
  4. Add an entry for yourself:
{
  "YourName": {
    "identity": "76561198012345678",
    "flags": ["@css/root"]
  }
}

Replace 76561198012345678 with your actual SteamID64 and YourName with any label you want.

  1. Save the file and reboot the server

Admin Permission Flags

Flag Permission
@css/root Full access to all admin commands
@css/kick Kick players
@css/ban Ban players
@css/unban Unban players
@css/slay Slay/kill players
@css/changemap Change the current map
@css/cvar Change server CVars
@css/chat Silence / unmute players in chat
@css/generic Generic admin tag (no extra permissions)

For most server owners, @css/root is the right choice. Use specific flags for moderators who shouldn't have full control.

Step 3: Use Admin Commands In-Game

Once your SteamID is in admins.json and the server has rebooted, join the server and open chat. Admin commands use ! prefix in chat or can be typed directly in the console.

Common commands:

Chat Command Console Equivalent Effect
!admin — Open the admin menu
!kick <name> css_kick <name> Kick a player
!ban <name> <minutes> css_ban <name> <minutes> Temp-ban a player
!slay <name> css_slay <name> Kill a player
!map <mapname> css_map <mapname> Change the map
!rcon <command> — Run a server command (if Fake RCON is installed)
