Overview

CS2 plugins are built on two frameworks:

  • MetaMod:Source — a low-level plugin loader that hooks into the game engine. Required for CounterStrikeSharp and many other plugins.
  • CounterStrikeSharp (CSS) — a C#-based scripting layer on top of MetaMod. Most modern CS2 plugins are written for CSS.

Unlike CS:GO's SourceMod ecosystem, CS2 plugins must be rewritten for the new engine — the plugin library is actively growing.

Step 1: Enable MetaMod and CounterStrikeSharp

AMP (CubeCoders)

  1. Open your AMP panel and go to your CS2 instance
  2. Navigate to Configuration → CS2 Settings
  3. Enable MetaMod and optionally CounterStrikeSharp
  4. Restart the server

WISP / Pterodactyl

  1. Open your WISP panel and select your CS2 server
  2. Go to the Mods or Startup tab (depending on your egg configuration)
  3. Enable MetaMod and CounterStrikeSharp as startup flags
  4. Restart the server from the console

Step 2: Install Plugins

Option A — One-Click Installer (If Available)

Some panel configurations include a plugin browser. If your setup supports it, enable plugins there and restart the server.

Option B — Manual Upload (Standard Method)

  1. Download the plugin from its GitHub repository (look for a .zip release)
  2. Extract the contents
  3. Upload the plugin folder to your server's addons/counterstrikesharp/plugins/ directory using your panel's File Manager
  4. Restart the server

Plugin config files typically live in addons/counterstrikesharp/configs/plugins/<PluginName>/.

Troubleshooting

Plugin not loading?

  • Confirm CounterStrikeSharp version matches the plugin's requirements (check the plugin's GitHub releases page)
  • Check the server console for errors referencing the plugin name
  • Verify the plugin is in the correct folder (plugins/, not the root addons/ directory)

Server crashing after installing a plugin?

  • Remove the plugin and see if the crash stops — most crashes come from version mismatches
  • Check addons/counterstrikesharp/logs/ for error details
