Operation: Harsh Doorstop Server Factions
OHD uses a BluFor vs OpFor system. Set specific factions per team in the bat file, or let the map choose defaults. Here's the full faction list and syntax.
The BluFor / OpFor System
Operation: Harsh Doorstop divides players into two teams: BluFor (friendly forces) and OpFor (opposing forces). Each team is assigned a faction — a set of uniforms, equipment, and voice lines representing a real-world military or paramilitary group.
If you don't specify factions in your bat file, the server uses the map's default faction pairing. Each official map has a historically appropriate default — Carentan defaults to US vs Wehrmacht, Lam Dong defaults to USA vs NVA, and so on.
Setting Factions in the Bat File
Factions are set as URL options chained onto the map argument:
HarshDoorstopServer-Win64-Shipping.exe AAS-Carentan?MaxPlayers=32?BluForFaction=BP_HDFactionInfo_USARMY?OpForFaction=BP_HDFactionInfo_Wehrmacht -log
The faction identifier format is always:
BP_HDFactionInfo_FACTIONNAME
Replace FACTIONNAME with the identifier from the table below.
Faction Reference by Era
| Era | BluFor Faction | OpFor Faction | Identifier Suffix |
|---|---|---|---|
| WWI | USA | Germany | USAARMY_WWI / GERMANY_WWI |
| WWII | US Army | Wehrmacht | USARMY / Wehrmacht |
| WWII | US Rangers | Wehrmacht | USRANGERS / Wehrmacht |
| WWII | US Army | Fallschirmjäger | USARMY / FALLSCHIRMJAEGER |
| WWII | Soviet Union | Wehrmacht | SOVIETS / Wehrmacht |
| Vietnam | USA | NVA | USA_VIETNAM / NVA |
| Gulf War | USA | Insurgents | USA_GULF / INSURGENTS |
| Modern | PMC | Insurgents | PMC / INSURGENTS |
Note: Faction identifier suffixes shown above are representative. Always verify exact identifiers against the current game version or community documentation, as they may be updated between releases.
Mixing Factions Across Eras
OHD does not enforce historical accuracy at the server configuration level — you can pair any faction against any other. A Soviet vs NVA match is technically possible if both faction identifiers are valid. However, some faction pairings may look visually inconsistent and could confuse players on community servers.
Default Factions Per Map
If no faction options are specified in the bat file, defaults apply:
| Map | Default BluFor | Default OpFor |
|---|---|---|
| Argonne / Saint Quentin | USA WWI | Germany WWI |
| Carentan / Monte Cassino / Omaha Beach | US Army / Rangers | Wehrmacht / Fallschirmjäger |
| Lam Dong / Tan Binh | USA Vietnam | NVA |
| Khafji | USA Gulf | Insurgents |
| Risala | PMC / USA Modern | Insurgents |
Custom Factions via Modding
Custom factions can be added through OHD's modding tools. A custom faction mod provides its own BP_HDFactionInfo_ Blueprint class. Once the mod is loaded on the server, the custom faction identifier works exactly like any built-in faction in the bat file.
