How to Enable PvP on Your Palworld Server
Enable PvP on your Palworld dedicated server and configure it for balanced competitive play. Covers the core toggle, gameplay changes when PvP is active, recommended balance settings, and the Deny Technology List for blocking overpowered items.
Important: PvP Is a Trial Feature
"PvP is a trial feature and may not behave as expected."
PvP in Palworld is still being developed and balanced. Enable it knowing some behaviours may be inconsistent.
Enabling PvP
In your AMP or WISP panel, open your Palworld server's Configuration settings:
- Find the PvP section
- Enable the PvP options
- Save and reboot
What Changes When PvP Is On
| Mechanic | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Player damage | Players can damage and kill each other |
| Defensive Pals | Base Pals defend more aggressively against enemy players |
| Guild chests | Players can access chests owned by other guilds |
| Airborne damage | Players in the air take increased damage |
| Structure damage | Damage to structures from other players is reduced |
Recommended PvP Balance Settings
Raw PvP with default settings is often unbalanced — a few configuration tweaks create a much better experience:
Combat Balance
- Disable per-level stat increases for Health and Attack — prevents high-level players from being unkillable vs new players; keeps PvP skill-based
Movement and Escape Prevention
- Limit fast travel to base-to-base only — prevents players from escaping combat by teleporting away
- Enable persistent player presence on logout — players who log out remain in the world briefly so they can't escape combat by disconnecting
Death Consequences
- Configure item drops on death — make defeated players drop their items and/or Pals for a meaningful risk/reward loop
Server Load
- Cap structures per player (suggested: ~1,000) — prevents base spam that causes lag and makes raiding impractical
- Limit guild member count — prevents one dominant mega-guild
Restricting Overpowered Items (Deny Technology List)
Certain high-mobility items break PvP balance. Use the Deny Technology List to block specific technologies from being unlocked:
- In Settings, find Deny Technology List
- Add Technology IDs for items you want to block
Common PvP balance blocks:
- Jetpack-tier gear (allows near-unlimited mobility and escape)
- Grappling gun variants (high mobility, difficult to counter)
- Items that trivialise base raids
For a full list of Technology IDs and their names, see Palworld Technology IDs.
