How to Reset a Player's Data on Your Palworld Server

Delete a specific player's save file to give them a fresh start — useful for bugged characters, spawn corruption, or players who want to restart without wiping the whole world.

When You'd Do This

  • A player's character is stuck in an unrecoverable state (bugged out, clipping, infinite death loop)
  • A player wants to start completely fresh without the whole server wiping
  • Spawn point corruption is preventing a player from loading into the game
  • A player's inventory is bugged and causing server-side errors

This only affects the one player. The world, bases, and all other players are completely untouched.

Where Player Save Files Live

Individual player data is stored here:

Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0/{WorldSaveFolder}/Players/

Each file in that folder is a .sav file named after the player's SteamID64 converted to hexadecimal. There's no human-readable name — just a hex string like 00000000ABCDEF12.sav.

Finding the Right File

You need to match the player to their save file. The cleanest method:

Step 1 — While the player is online, run /ShowPlayers in chat (requires admin). Note their SteamID from the output.

Step 2 — Convert that SteamID64 to hex. Use any online converter — search "decimal to hex converter" and plug in the full 17-digit SteamID64. The result is the filename (without .sav).

For example, SteamID64 76561198012345678 converts to a hex string that becomes the filename. The file will be something like 00000000XXXXXXXX.sav — the exact value depends on their SteamID.

Step 3 — Match that hex string to a file in the Players/ folder.

If the player isn't online to get their SteamID from /ShowPlayers, they can find their own SteamID64 at steamid.io or in their Steam profile URL.

Resetting the Player

  1. Stop the server — never delete or modify save files while the server is running
  2. Navigate to Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0/{WorldSaveFolder}/Players/
  3. Rename the target .sav file (e.g., add .bak to the end) rather than deleting it outright — gives you a recovery path if something is wrong
  4. Start the server
  5. Have the player log in — the server generates a fresh character file for them automatically

They will spawn at the default spawn point with nothing. Pals, items, base ownership, guild membership, and XP are all gone.

What Is and Isn't Affected

Wiped:

  • Character level and XP
  • Inventory and equipment
  • Caught Pals
  • Technology points and unlocks
  • Spawn point

Not wiped:

  • The world itself
  • Structures the player built (those belong to their guild/base, not the player file)
  • Other players' data
  • Guild records (though the player may need to rejoin)

Confirm Before You Delete

This is irreversible without a backup. Always confirm with the player before touching their file. If you renamed it instead of deleted it, you have a window to restore it — just stop the server, rename the .bak file back to .sav, and restart.
