How to Increase Engram Points Per Level in ARK

Give players more engram points per level by adding OverridePlayerLevelEngramPoints lines to Game.ini — one line per level. Includes a full example config for levels 1–155 and tips for balancing progression.

What Are Engram Points?

Engram points are the currency players spend to unlock crafting recipes (engrams) as they level up. By default, each level grants a small number of points — not enough to unlock everything. Increasing the per-level grant lets players specialize more freely or removes the grind on private servers.

How to Configure

Open Game.ini (at ShooterGame/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/Game.ini) and add OverridePlayerLevelEngramPoints lines under the [/Script/ShooterGame.ShooterGameMode] section.

Critical rule: You need one line per level — from level 1 up to your max level. If you have 155 levels configured and add a 156th level via mods/XP tables but only have 155 lines, the 156th level grants 0 points.

[/Script/ShooterGame.ShooterGameMode]
OverridePlayerLevelEngramPoints=8
OverridePlayerLevelEngramPoints=8
OverridePlayerLevelEngramPoints=8
OverridePlayerLevelEngramPoints=8
OverridePlayerLevelEngramPoints=8

The first line = level 1, second line = level 2, etc.

Example: Vanilla-Style Values (Levels 1–30)

These approximate the vanilla point distribution:

OverridePlayerLevelEngramPoints=18
OverridePlayerLevelEngramPoints=18

OverridePlayerLevelEngramPoints=18
OverridePlayerLevelEngramPoints=20

Continue the pattern up to your max level (level 100 base, up to 155 with all DLC/Ascension).

Example: Generous Flat Rate (Unlock Everything)

If you want players to unlock all engrams by max level, use a high flat value. For 155 levels and ~10,000 total points needed:

OverridePlayerLevelEngramPoints=65
; (repeat 155 times)

65 × 155 = 10,075 points — enough to unlock the full vanilla engram tree.

Tip: Rather than manually repeating 155 lines, some server admins use a text editor's find-and-replace or a simple script to generate the lines.

Step-by-Step

  1. In your AMP panel, open File Manager and navigate to ShooterGame/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/Game.ini
  2. Find or create the [/Script/ShooterGame.ShooterGameMode] section
  3. Add your OverridePlayerLevelEngramPoints lines (one per level)
  4. Save and reboot the server

Existing Characters

Players who have already leveled won't retroactively receive the extra points for past levels. They can re-spec (use an admin-spawned Mindwipe Tonic to reset engrams and stats) to benefit from the new values.
