How to Increase Stats Per Level in ARK

Customize how much each stat increases per level for players, wild dinos, and tamed dinos using PerLevelStatsMultiplier entries in Game.ini. Full stat index reference and step-by-step config guide.

How It Works

ARK's stat-per-level system uses multiplier entries in Game.ini. The default value is 1.0 (vanilla). Set it higher to increase how much that stat grows each level — for example, 2.0 doubles the per-level gain.

There are three multiplier families:

Config Key Applies To
PerLevelStatsMultiplier_Player[X] Human players
PerLevelStatsMultiplier_DinoWild[X] Wild (untamed) dinos
PerLevelStatsMultiplier_DinoTamed[X] Tamed dinos (per-level after taming)

Replace [X] with the stat index number from the table below.

Stat Index Reference

Index Stat Notes
0 Health
1 Stamina
2 Torpidity Affects knockout thresholds
3 Oxygen
4 Food
5 Water
6 Temperature
7 Weight
8 Melee Damage Cannot be increased with this config for players
9 Movement Speed Cannot be increased with this config for players
10 Temperature Fortitude Cannot be increased with this config for players
11 Crafting Speed Cannot be increased with this config for players

Note: Stats 8–11 (Melee, Speed, Fortitude, Crafting) cannot be configured with PerLevelStatsMultiplier_Player — they use a different system. For players, only stats 0–7 can be scaled this way.

Step 1: Open Game.ini

In your AMP panel, open the File Manager for your ARK server and navigate to:

ShooterGame/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/Game.ini

Open that file in the built-in editor.

Step 2: Add Your Multipliers

Under the [/Script/ShooterGame.ShooterGameMode] section (create it if it doesn't exist), add lines like:

[/Script/ShooterGame.ShooterGameMode]
; Player stat multipliers (per level-up point spent)
PerLevelStatsMultiplier_Player[0]=2.0
PerLevelStatsMultiplier_Player[1]=2.0
PerLevelStatsMultiplier_Player[3]=2.0
PerLevelStatsMultiplier_Player[4]=1.5
PerLevelStatsMultiplier_Player[7]=3.0

; Tamed dino stat multipliers (per level gained after taming)
PerLevelStatsMultiplier_DinoTamed[0]=2.0
PerLevelStatsMultiplier_DinoTamed[7]=2.0

; Wild dino stat multipliers (affects difficulty scaling)
PerLevelStatsMultiplier_DinoWild[0]=1.5

You only need to include stats you want to change — unlisted stats remain at the default 1.0.

Step 3: Save and Reboot

Click Save in the File Manager, then reboot your server. The new multipliers take effect immediately for newly leveled characters. Existing characters already past level 1 won't retroactively gain the extra stats for past levels — players need to level up again for the new values to apply.

Tips

  • Balance health and weight together — servers that pump health without weight often feel unbalanced
  • cheat DestroyWildDinos after changing wild dino multipliers so the new values apply to freshly spawned dinos
  • Test with a fresh character before asking all players to respec
