How to Open the Clone Hero Server Port

Clone Hero uses UDP port 14242 by default. Open it in your DustBowl.Games firewall settings, verify it's reachable, and handle multiple server instances if needed.

Required Port

Clone Hero dedicated servers use UDP port 14242 by default.

Open this in your DustBowl.Games control panel under Firewall or Network settings. If you changed the port with -p in your startup arguments, open that port instead.

It Must Be UDP

This is the most common mistake: opening TCP instead of UDP.

Clone Hero server traffic is UDP only. Opening TCP 14242 does nothing — players still can't connect. Make sure the rule you create specifies UDP.

Verifying the Port Is Reachable

Once the server is running:

  1. Go to https://canyouseeme.org
  2. Enter port 14242 (or your custom port)
  3. Check — a "Success" response means the port is open and the server is listening

If you get an error or timeout, either the firewall rule isn't in place or the server isn't running. Confirm both.

Running Multiple Clone Hero Instances

If you run more than one Clone Hero server on the same machine, each server needs its own port. Use the -p argument to assign unique ports:

# Server 1
./Server -l 3 -n "Band Practice" -p 14242 -np

# Server 2
./Server -l 3 -n "Setlist Night" -p 14243 -np

# Server 3
./Server -l 3 -n "Expert Only" -p 14244 -np

Open each port (UDP 14242, UDP 14243, UDP 14244) separately in the firewall settings.
