Setting Up ICARUS Server Administration

ICARUS dedicated servers support two methods of admin access: a session-based admin password login via in-game chat, and a permanent admin whitelist using Steam64 IDs.

Method 1: Admin Password (Session Login)

This method grants admin privileges for the current game session. You must re-enter the password each time you join the server.

Step 1: Set an Admin Password

Open Icarus\Saved\Config\WindowsServer\ServerSettings.ini and set a password:

AdminPassword=YourSecurePasswordHere

Restart the server after saving the file.

Step 2: Log In as Admin In-Game

Once you have joined the server, open the in-game chat and type:

/AdminLogin YourSecurePasswordHere

If the password is correct, you will receive a confirmation message and admin commands will be available to you for that session.

Method 2: Permanent Admin Whitelist (Steam64 ID)

This method grants permanent admin access to specific Steam accounts without requiring a password login each session.

Step 1: Find Your Steam64 ID

Your Steam64 ID is a 17-digit number. You can find it at steamid.io by entering your Steam profile URL or username.

Example Steam64 ID: 76561198012345678

Step 2: Add Steam64 IDs to AdminWhitelist.txt

Create or edit the file AdminWhitelist.txt in the server root directory (the same folder as IcarusServer-Win64-Shipping.exe). Add one Steam64 ID per line:

76561198012345678
76561198087654321

Step 3: Restart the Server

After saving AdminWhitelist.txt, restart the server. Players whose Steam64 IDs are listed will have permanent admin access without needing to enter a password.

Which Method Should I Use?

Method Best For
Admin Password Granting temporary admin to trusted players
AdminWhitelist.txt Permanent admin for server owners and co-admins

Most server owners use both: the whitelist for permanent admins and a password as a backup for trusted players.

Admin Commands

Once logged in as admin, you have access to server management commands via in-game chat. Common admin actions include kicking players, managing prospects, and server maintenance tasks.
